Individual Data Privacy

Sponsor: Sen. Rob Schaaf, District 34

This proposed constitutional amendment, if approved by the voters, provides that a person's electronic communication and data are protected from unreasonable searches and seizures performed by the government. The amendment specifies that prior to issuance, a warrant must describe the data or communication to be accessed and be supported by probable cause.

The Missouri Alliance for Freedom supports this resolution because it protects citizen's electronic communication and data from unreasonable search and seizure. This measure promotes individual liberty and limited government which supports our mission.

This joint resolution was passed by a wide margin in both the House and the Senate. It will now require a vote of the people to approve the constitutional change.
