HB 188 deals with many ethical and lobbying issues facing Missouri's General Assembly such as legislators taking lobbying positions and gifts to legislators from lobbyists. However, HB 188 also targets small grassroots organizations by forcing private corporations to also file as committees with the Missouri Ethics Commission. The legislature should focus on making government transparent but should not force private citizens to turn over their accounting simply because they wish to have a voice in politics. This portion must be amended out of the bill.
